They are keeping the rababi tradition alive today by performing many old compositions previously sung at Nankana Sahib by renowned rababis such as Bhai Jaswant Singh & Pal Singh (Jasa-Pala). His son, Bhai Sukhwinder Singh accompanies him on the side harmonium and vocals and his grandson, Bhai Gagandeep Singh plays the tabla. Currently, Bhai Charanjit Singh Ji’s jatha spans three generations. His interest in singing led him to learn Kirtan from Bhai Pal Singh who then encouraged him to form his own jatha. Before forming his own jatha, he played tabla with many renowned raagis such as Bhai Pal Singh, Bhai Santa Singh Kanwal, Bhai Gurnam Singh (Delhi), Bhai Kartar Singh Parwana, Sant Sujan Singh, Bhai Thakur Singh Almast and many more.

In the initial years of his training, he learned how to play the tabla from Bhai Bahadur Singh (Jalandhar) and then went on to learn from Ustad Kirpal Singh (Patiala) for 15 years.
He was exposed to music at a very young age by his grandfather, Bhai Teja Singh and father, Bhai Harnam Singh. Bhai Charanjit Singh (Patiala) was born into a family of raagis in the year 1940 in Nankana Sahib, Pakistan.
